Finishes
Our lights are available in nine finishes as shown in the materials section. we are happy to match a metal or paint colour supplied by you. With paint colours, please specify a matt, eggshell or gloss finish.
All brass, nickel and silver finishes are unlacquered and age naturally. A lacquered finish works well when the light will be used in an area of high exposure to sea air or where it is important to maintain your chosen finish.
Lamp shades
In this catalogue, we have photographed most lamps with a Pembroke shade and only given the base diameter.
Where we have used another shade model, all measurements are given and can be replicated should you wish.
Measurements are given in the following order: Top, Slope, Base.
If no carrier size is stated, the shade has a gimbal fitting.
All shades shown are in card and can be ordered from Soane.
Shades and carriers are not included unless specifically ordered.
A harp fitting can also be supplied.
All shades are sold separately.
Measurements
The quoted measurements of all Soane’s lights may vary slightly as every piece is individually made by hand.
The maximum measurement is always given in both inches and millimeters.Measurements do not include lampshades and heights are to the base of the bulb-holder.
If a light is required to be larger or smaller than shown, we will re-draw the piece to your specification and quote accordingly.
Bulbs
The maximum bulb wattage is stated for all lights in the relevant chapter introduction and appropriate bulbs are supplied with every order.
TABLE LIGHTS
Flex and switches
3 metres/118” of silk flex in gold, bronze or silver is routinely fitted to each lamp. Please specify if alternative lengths are required.
UK: The switch will be placed on the bulb-holder unless otherwise specified. A dimmer switch can be fitted on the flex or the bulb holder if required.
EUROPE / US: In-line switches, placed on the flex, are routinely fitted.
In-line switches are positioned 12” from the lamp base.
Plugs
A 13-amp plug is routinely fitted for all UK orders. Please specify if a 2-amp or 5-amp round-pin plug is required.
Bulbs
A 60 watt bulb is supplied with all table lamps.
UK /: A Bayonet Cap (BC) fitting is routinely supplied for all UK orders.
Europe / US: An Edison Screw (ES) fitting is standard.
Please specify in which country the lamp will be used on all orders.
WALL LIGHTS
Flex and switches
All wall lights are hard wired unless otherwise specified.
Each wall light is supplied with the appropriate screws.
Bulbs
Appropriate bulbs are supplied with every order.
HANGING LIGHTS & LANTERNS
All orders are supplied with the appropriate ceiling rose, ‘S’ hook and one metre/39” of chain. Please specify if further chain is required.
Where a lantern will be placed in an external covered area, Soane suggests a zinc oxide finish (painted or patinated to any finish.) Please specify upon ordering. Painted rather than electroplated finishes are recommended in these situations.
FLOOR LIGHTS
2 metres/78” of silk flex in gold, bronze or silver is routinely fitted to each Floor Light. Please specify if alternative lengths are required.
UK: The switch will be placed on the bulb-holder unless otherwise specified.
A dimmer switch can be fitted on the flex or the bulb holder if required.
EUROPE / US: In-line switches, placed on the flex, are routinely fitted.
