Chairs
All Soane’s upholstered furniture is traditionally-made to the most rigorous standards. Comfort is Soane’s primary consideration when designing and making chairs, sofas and bar stools and we use the most appropriate upholstery materials for a range of environments. The capacity to customise applies to all our upholstery.
Frames are made of beech and internal fillings consist of webbing, canvas, coil-springs tied in by hand, fibre, hairlock and felt. Cushions can be pure duck feather, down and duck feather or pure down.
Restaurants and hotels.
For a contract environment, foam may be substituted for a sprung seat with rubberised horsehair, and barrier cloth fitted. Where larger numbers of an item are being ordered, alterations can be made to the design to make it more suited to batch production.
Measurements.
The quoted measurements may vary slightly as every piece is individually made by hand. The maximum measurement is always given in both inches and millimetres.
Height to seat is measured to the front seam of the seat cushion when puffed up.
All cloth measurements are for plain designs assuming a minimum width of 48”/1220mm.
If your fabric has a pattern repeat please ask us to confirm the fabric requirements. All COL (Customer’s own leather) measurements are based on cow hide with an average skin size of 50 sq ft. Specified leather amounts are generous to allow for blemishes and small holes.
Additional requests.
We can fit a fire-retardant barrier cloth if requested and make loose covers for most of our designs.
