Crillon & Opera Seating

Superb workmanship is crucial to the crisp, tailored form of our leather wrapped seating designs. We are lucky to work with British craftsmen with traditional saddlery skills to provide the necessary expertise. The original chair that inspired our experiments with leather wrapped furniture, was designed by Jacques Adnet who famously said of his designs “What a lot of work to achieve simplicity.” After developing some of the 13 pieces in Soane’s collection over many years and countless prototypes, we appreciate his sentiments!

The frames of all these pieces are manufactured in steel by Dorset engineers and upholstered using a very fine quality of foam for the seats and backs. Whilst most clients favour hand-stitched leather upholstery; alpaca, cashmere and linen have also been used in conjunction with a strong canvas backing to ensure the required strength. Brass stockings and caps can be patinated in a choice of standard Soane metal finishes.

Sublime comfort is a hallmark of all these designs. We look forward to welcoming you to our showrooms to try them.
