The exuberant decoration of hand-drawn palampores and chintzes from the 17th – 19th centuries has inspired the botanical textiles in Soane’s collection.

Whilst Some designs are derived from fragments and palampores Lulu has found in the last 25 years, other Soane fabrics are copies of exquisite chintzes and sarongs generously loaned to Lulu by her great friend, textile collector, Karun Thakar.
