The Making of The Rattan Ripple Console

Inspired by the silhouette of draped linen, lengths of cane are steamed and bent into shape to create a ‘skeleton’ which is then meticulously covered by weaving fine rattan to follow the curvaceous contours of the frame. The recognisable form of Soane’s Ripple Console becomes increasingly apparent as the weaving progresses over approximately 40 hours.
