Metal (Special) –  Topkapi Gilt

Topkapi Gilt is a luminous, rich finish achieved by painstakingly patinating and gold lacquering raw brass. Especially developed for Soane to recreate the tombak finish of an 18th-century Turkish lantern, Topkapi Gilt glows and reflects the light in a particularly magical way. Please note that this finish is applied by hand and therefore will have natural variations in both colour and pattern. Great care is taken to achieve consistency of colour and warmth and while no two pieces will ever look identical, each will have their own beautiful individuality.

All our metal finishes are hand applied, unlacquered and living, and we expect these to age and patina over time. Please note that this includes our metal samples. Learn more about how to care for our Materials & Finishes.
