Philae – Duck Egg Blue – Weave

While this glamorous chevron design conjures an Art Deco spirit, it is based on ancient Egyptian depictions of water in the Ptolemaic Temple of Philae. The hieroglyph for the letter ‘N’ is in the form of a chevron, and the motif appears repeatedly in Egyptian imagery. ‘Philae’ is woven from cotton, viscose and flax by an exceptional team of weavers in Sudbury, in the English county of Suffolk, and is reversible, making it particularly useful. The front of the fabric is saturated with colour and has a luxurious sheen, while the reverse is much more subtle – its saturated colour tracing the outline of the chevrons, visible on a natural ecru ground.
