The Scallop Chair

The ‘Scallop Chair’ is made by expert chair makers and traditionally upholstered in a small workshop in Somerset, England, in a choice of Soane (or client’s own) fabric or leather. The design previously appeared in Soane’s collection and has since been refined to ensure maximum comfort. It has a glamorous scalloped back, with the option to add a decorative twisted antique brass handle. The exceptional reeded ‘rope’ is formed using a die to replicate the original fluting, before the twist is applied.

The upholstery filling of this design is made using natural materials.

Details +

Available in Soane's standard wood finishes except painted beech, darkest sipo mahogany and fumed oak. With a generously upholstered scalloped back with thin piping detail and fitted seat.

For an additional charge, this design can be customised with a cast brass handle, which is finished as standard in antique brass.

All of our metal finishes are hand applied, living finishes and unlacquered, and we expect these to age and patina over time, this includes our samples.

This design has been made for the domestic use and has not been tested for a non-domestic environment.

Lead Time +

16 weeks. Lead time on quantities of 6 or more will need to be confirmed in advance of order.

Lead time will start from receipt of deposit and confirmation of all specifications.

8 weeks must be allowed from receipt of COM/COL.

Delivery +

Carriage charges can be quoted upon confirmation of the delivery address.

Upholstery +

Materials: British organic wool, natural graphite latex, coconut coir, wool based interliner

COL: 48 sq ft of clean leather, free of extreme imperfections. We recommend sending an entire hide to achieve the best upholstery results.
