Willow

Chosen for its beautifully organic, dappled appearance, willow is lighter in weight than rattan. Traditionally associated with basketry, willow is a sustainable material, grown locally in Britain. Much faster growing than timber, willow can be harvested annually and is noteworthy for its carbon sequestration. Once harvested, the buds and bark are stripped from the plant before the rods are stored and soaked, ready for weaving. As willow is a natural material and every rod is unique, please note that it will have natural imperfections and colour variations.

Sustainability is integral to our long-lasting products and the way we work. We are determined to source our materials responsibly and reduce our environmental impact. Learn more about willow and Soane's sustainability goals.
