Our Sustainability Goals and Performance
Sustainability is integral to our long-lasting products and the way we work. We are determined to source our materials responsibly and reduce our environmental impact.
For managing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, we use the framework of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We have set goals to reduce our carbon emissions and how we source our materials. Improvements have been made, but we are still at the beginning and we face many challenges. We believe in transparency and will report on our progress here.

Carbon
Scope 1 & 2: (greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within our direct control)
By end 2022: We commit to set science-based scope 1 & 2 emission reduction targets in line with SBTi criteria and recommendations. The SBTi has approved Soane’s near-term science-based emissions reduction target. We aim to reach net-zero carbon emissions from all our controlled assets by 2030.
By end 2025: Purchased electricity will be 100% renewable.
Scope 3: (emissions from our value chain – suppliers and customers)
By end 2025: Map and (where possible) quantify all GHG emissions from our value chain. Strive to reduce emissions, reporting regularly on progress.

Materials
By end 2023: All timber and wood products supplied through Soane workshops and third parties to be independently certified.
By end 2024: All upholstery to be natural and biodegradable, where technologically possible.
By end 2024: Sources of cotton to be fully traceable. Working towards using only certified and/or recycled cotton.
By end 2026: All leather sourced from tanneries rated GOLD according to Leather Working Group standards and contain no chromium-based dyes.
By end 2030: Ensure all materials are either biodegradable or recyclable. Use recycled materials where possible.
