To celebrate The Chelsea Flower Show, illustrator Nina Fuga will be painting throughout the day at Soane Britain’s Pimlico Road showroom on 21st and 22nd May. Nina will be painting freehand onto Soane’s Espalier Square wallpaper in a custom Cream on Duck Egg Blue colourway, embellishing its delicate trellis motif with enchanting floral blooms. There is an open invitation for all to visit and watch Nina at work – and to discover more about Soane’s traditionally printed wallpapers and fabrics, in particular the custom colour possibilities.
Espalier Square wallpaper is inspired by the ancient horticultural art of espalier, whereby fruit bearing trees are formally trained across garden walls. Based on a nineteenth century design, the trellis pattern can be used to create an all-encompassing sense of a garden in full bloom, especially when combined with Espalier Square fabric. Soane wallpapers and fabrics can be ordered in custom colours in small minimum quantities.
Nina Fuga grew up in Venice, trained at the Royal Academy of Art and now lives in London. Nina and Lulu Lytle, Soane’s Co-Founder and Creative Director, share a love of the exotic and all things botanical. Her work has appeared in publications from Vogue to The World of Interiors and has a wonderfully fluid, decorative and atmospheric quality.
