Whilst real craftsmanship underpins all that Soane does, nowhere is this more evident than in the production of its rattan furniture. The Soane rattan story is one of making furniture and lighting, founded on integrity and longevity, whilst reviving an almost extinct British industry. Soane is proud to have established its own apprenticeship scheme – the first of its kind in Britain – to foster skills passed down over generations and continue the 150-year tradition of rattan weaving in Leicester, England. The body of Soane’s growing rattan collection is comprised of both new designs by Lulu Lytle, many of which are inspired by particularly beautiful antiques collected over many years. These pieces sit equally as well in a contemporary or a classical interior, always evocative of relaxation and warmth.
