Behind the Design – Trellis Twine

Faithfully copied from a 19th century ‘Norwich’ shawl in Soane’s textile archive, Trellis Twine uses traditional motifs of flowers and foliage and is structured by a strong trellis shape. This is our first fabric where the border is integral to the print. We work with an extraordinary artist called Tan who translates the original documents into the artwork for engraving the screens. She has faithfully captured the atmosphere of the original.
