Sophie Coryndon – Cloister Garden Wallpaper – Fresco Pink
Code - CGW001
The enclosed garden alive with symbolic flowers and plants is a recurring feature in Renaissance art and poetry. Running alongside the cloisters in Fra Angelico’s depiction of the Annunciation at San Marco (1440-1445) is a garden in bloom with Spring flowers and cyprus trees in the distance. While the architecture and the interaction between the archangel Gabriel and Mary are relatively direct and sparse, the garden in the ground is an allegorical reminder of a fertile future. Sophie was drawn to the way each of the petals seems to glisten from within the fresco. By closely studying the artwork and re-working elements into her own painting and repeat, Sophie has developed this design into a truly uplifting and romantic wallpaper.
By choosing to print this five colour wallpaper by screen Lulu has ensured that the hand painted quality of Sophie’s artwork has remained integral to the design.
